Peakwave Coaching

Do you want an adventure on the high seas, or a gentle paddle on a stunning West Coast sea loch? What about using a different way to access remote mountains and sea cliff climbs?

Well sea kayaking is the answer for you. Let one of our local partners, peakwavecoaching help you get afloat in a sea kayak to sample some of the world class sea kayaking we have here on the majestic West Coast of Scotland. Imagine experiencing the thrill of controlling your own sea kayak in a small tide race or watching young otters play on the shore, as you sit a safe distance away in your kayak?

We can arrange guided trips, of varying durations, from ‘taster’ sessions on Loch Linnhe to a week’s voyage around the Outer Hebrides. All technical equipment can be provided. Coaching in all aspects of sea kayaking from the basic strokes to pre-coach assessment can also be arranged. Just contact peakwavecoaching to discuss your requirements.
In all but exceptional circumstances, peakwavecoaching will be able to find a suitable venue for your experience; however the sea, weather and tides always have the last say! Previous kayaking experience is not needed for the majority of the journeys and courses listed on this page.

Journeys and courses for 2005 include:

Half or Full Day Taster Sessions – A gentle introduction to sea kayaking on Loch Linnhe or Leven. Combine a half day journey with a rock / ice session back at the Ice Factor for a full on adventure day or for a more relaxed pace of day why not head back to the Ice Factor for a sauna / steam room and bite to eat.

Ardnamurchan Point – a day trip around the most Westerly point of the UK mainland. Sandy beaches and stunning views out to the Hebrides.

Isle of Lismore or Sound of Arisaig – A two day introduction to the joys of journeying using a sea kayak and wild camping. Let the kayak and the sea take the weight and enjoy the watertight storage capacity of 160 litres. No back breaking rucsacs! No sea kayak experience necessary.

Learn to Sea Kayak Weekend – a weekend coaching course designed to enable people to learn the basics of sea kayaking. Time will be spent looking at kayak handling skills, rescues and learning about how to safely journey on the sea.

Pushing your Paddling Skills Weekend – Want to improve your skill and knowledge base in order to journey in more challenging conditions? Then this course is ideal for you.
Pumping Tides – Experience paddling in a tide race. Feel the natural power of the tide pushing through a constriction of land and learn how to make it an exiting playground for a sea kayaker.

Eskimo Rolling Clinic – One day clinic to learn or improve your eskimo roll.
Sea Kayak Navigation – One day course which will impart the skills of how to navigate on the sea in a sea kayak. Tidal planning, chartwork and use of compass will all be looked at.

Scramble n’ Paddle – The ultimate Scottish wilderness adventure weekend in Knoydart. The weekend starts with a paddle up Loch Nevis and then its out with the boots and up onto the ridges and peaks of Knoydart.

Cuillin Kayak – Start with ridge the different way by paddling in to Loch Courisk or combine a week of scrambling with sea kayaking around the stunning coastline of Skye. Quite simply a true adventure.
Other possible mountaineering / paddling trips include a visit to the Rum Cuillin or the far NW and maybe even the Barra Head Isles for some classic sea cliff climbing. Drop us an email to register your interest today in any of listed trips or courses.
