The Ice Factor team, have for a number of years ran specialist Post Graduate and CME meeting aimed at medics with an interest in the outdoors, specialising in Trauma and outdoor accident management. Working with the other world class attraction - the Underwater Centre in Fort William - our PG and CME events will now take medics on the highs/lows of sport medicine.

With our new programme, these courses will have appeal to any GP on the coastline of Britain, Doctors in Rural Areas or anybody involved in group supervision out of doors - school teachers, Duke of Edinburgh Assessors, Scout Masters, Boys / Girls Brigade, Junior Leaders from the military, PADI and BSAC divers, and anyone undertaking a professional mountaineering assessment.

From October to April we will run bi monthly PGEA approved meetings including -

  • ATLS
  • BASP medical instruction

Each medical section will be divided into instruction zones - Lectures on mountaineering safety, decompression sickness, altitude medicine, lectures on medicine specif areas - new pharmaceuticals, protocols, practical session on the above and instruction on rock/ice/water and in the dive tanks and bells. Each meeting has been granted outline approval for 10hours over a weekend.
