The Ice Factor Kinlochleven is the perfect base for Military, Mountain Rescue and Emergency Services Groups on expedition or adventure training in the Scottish Highlands.

Kinlochleven is located right in the middle of the Outdoor Capital of the UK, meaning we have easy access to some of the most demanding and iconic mountains (there are more mountains over 3,000ft around the centre than there is in all of England and Wales and you could fit the Welsh National Parks, the Lake and Peak Districts into just this corner of Lochaber!).

The Ideal Location

Being the Outdoor Capital of the UK, means more than just big hills.

The area is home to some of the UK’s best activity operators, meaning there is access to an unrivalled range of Adventure Sports.

Lochaber has 2 ski centres (Nevis Range and Glencoe Mountain, both offering superb downhill mountain biking). The West Highland Way, Great Glen Way and Kidnapped Trail all pass through the village, meaning Kinlochleven is an important staging post on these justifiably popular long distance walk. For those seeking less busy routes, the area has a plethora of high mountain walks from easy to the most challenging.

The Atlantic Cycle Trail passes along the coast, affording wonderful easy-moderate cycling terrain and the area is Mecca for Paddle Sports. A number of local operators work from the centre using the river Leven for fun-yaking, white water canoeing and canyoning. The fjord like Loch Leven has for a number of years been a crucial training ground for Sea Kayaking and Fast Rib Trips whilst the sheltered lochans provide excellent introduction ground for Canadian Canoeing. For this reason Ice Factor has been an important staging post in a number of National and International Endurance events, providing event support, event management way stations, health and safety monitors and safety back up on the hills.
