A group of work colleagues and I did the introductory lesson on the ice wall, and then on to the high ropes course outside. I have to say both were very challenging, in particular the high ropes – turns out I’m far more nervous of heights than I had thought! We were well looked after by our guide Anne Rebecca who did a great job of dealing with 4 novices of various ability. Well worth a try!

I pre-booked climbing wall and ice climbing sessions of an hour each with a break for lunch in between.

My instructor was Rachel who was very good at explaining and demonstrating use of the wall and facilities, tying in, safe belaying etc. (Thanks also to Rebecca-Louise for leader belaying practice).

On the ice wall, after some basic revision, Rachel gave me good advice on efficient ways of climbing steep ice and some useful info on reducing the number of placements needed when traversing.

A very enjoyable and helpful visit. Thanks again to Rachel and the other staff.
